Hollyburn Country Club Wedding | Michelle + Rhys

Hollyburn Country Club.jpg

Michelle and Rhys had an fantastic Hollyburn Country Club Wedding! Because of the unpredictable weather in Vancouver, Michelle and Rhys had to transfer their outdoor ceremony to indoor. The weather was miserable on their engagement, not being able to have a ceremony on the grass due to the weather had made this couple disappointed even though we already made the most out of the engagement in Granville island

Surprisingly, when we went out to Burrard Dry Dock Pier to have some wedding photos, There was a sun break! You can imagine how happy both Michelle and Rhys were at that moment. Photos turned out great and natural especially when they were able to have the sunshine on their wedding day!

Then we also have some photos on the stairwell at the Pinnacle Hotel where Rhys got ready for the wedding.

I still remembered how Michelle trusted me when we first met and I exceeded their expectation on their engagement photos during pouring rain.

I just wanted to say thank you and I really enjoyed your wedding and wish you happy forever after!

Bowen Island Wedding | Ally + James

Thanks to Ally and James, I got the opportunity to witness how beautiful Bowen island is. After talking over a cup of coffee, I fell in love with Ally and James.

They were very polite and always had smiles on their faces while we were talking. I was glad that they felt the same because they made up their mind to have me as their wedding photographer in Bowen Island.

Ally and James had an absolutely amazing Bowen Island wedding on such a beautiful day in August. Some family member and their closest friends were coming from Australia to Vancouver to witness the big step in their life journey. It was incredible to be a part of this intimate wedding. They had at least three dogs in the family and every one can say their pets’ names !

James started the wedding day off by swimming with his groomsmen. The atmosphere was amazing. They had lots of beers while they are getting ready. And Ally, as the bride, arrived the dock for ceremony by a boat. It is definitely the most creative way for entrance. Ally’s father even built an arch for the ceremony.

One thing Ally and James did not tell me when we first met is that they were going to swim after the speech.

You may have seen so many alcohol dancing during reception, but alcohol swimming ? It was so refreshing and I believed I could not even forget this wedding for so much fun and joyful people. Their Bowen Island Wedding was just perfect!"

Kitsilano Beach Engagement | Lana + Chris

IMG_1398.jpg

After a coffee talk and scouting the venue together with this couple, Lana & Chris, they trusted me on the photography of their engagement session and wedding. We met at Kitsilano Beach,  a place where we can enjoy the sunset while taking the pictures. That day was a little bit cloudy, however, it did not block the sun. Instead, the sky has become more dramatic.

I chose a zoom lens for this day, which allowed me to keep a distance from the couple while they could have fun and enjoy the moment without me interrupting.

The difficulty of having a sunset engagement session is that I have to make sure to retain the detail of the background like sky and sea, and to properly exposure of the face. No one wants to see a blank white background or dark faces in the images. I had to post-process the photos so that the images could have a closer look to what we saw in our human eyes.

This was a fun engagement with Lana and Chris. I was glad that they took my advice to make this happen before sunset :)
